Syngenta hits hard and marks an important milestone in the Moroccan market gardening sector with the simultaneous launch of five innovative varieties of zucchini resistant to viruses New Delhi (ToLCNDV) and MWMV (Mosaic of Watermelon Type Morocco)!
This announcement was made during the “Zucchini Day”, organized at the company's Demonstration Station in Agadir, in the presence of a large audience made up of producers, distributors and experts. There were many producers, distributors and experts in the market gardening sector who attended this zucchini day on December 10, 2024, and they were not disappointed.
Faced with the challenges posed by devastating viruses, Syngenta is offering an unprecedented response. Characteristics of new varieties
The zucchini recently unveiled by Syngenta are distinguished by several major advantages. They offer remarkable resistance to the New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV), a major challenge for zucchini producers, now under control thanks to these innovations.
In addition, they present resistance to the MWMV virus, a first in the sector. Their vigor and hardiness ensure optimal adaptation to the most difficult growing conditions, while maintaining a high yield, even under strong viral pressure.
Finally, these varieties are characterized by a complete resistance package, also including protection against CMV, ZYMV, WMV viruses and powdery mildew.
Focus on the five varieties
During “Zucchini Day”, participants had the opportunity to discover these promising varieties in real conditions.
In fact, Syngenta experts gave interactive presentations to illustrate their advantages. Among the five varieties introduced, Broncos stands out for its flexibility in the open field, while Palladion specifically responds to the challenge of the MWMV virus, providing a solution adapted to the needs of the Moroccan market.
The variety Alpha focuses on the fight against ToLCNDV, while Delphi combines resistance to this same virus and improved agronomic performance. Finally, SCVE 22-2031 asserts itself as a pioneer, bringing together resistance to potyviruses and ToLCNDV in an open field context.
