Waste: Est Ensemble takes stock of the reorganization of collection

In 2023, Is Together undertook an overhaul of the waste management in order to simplify and improve the service for users while strengthening reduction and valuation waste. This initiative presents encouraging results both for residents and the environment.

According to Is Togethersince the establishment of this new organization, the waste collection service has improved. have been optimized, including increased frequency for recyclable packaging and the progressive generalization of sorting at source of the food waste.

Furthermore, the single collection bulky waste every Monday morning throughout the country simplifies procedures for users. This new organization results in a drop in complaints, which, after a peak at launch in October 2023, have decreased to a level lower than that of the old system.

A reduction in household waste

Between October 2023 and September 2024, the volume of recyclable packaging increased by 20% and food waste collected increased by 67%. At the same time, the volume of residual household waste decreased by 1.8%, a reduction of almost 2,200 tonnes. And this, among around half of the population of the territory (new phases of deployment of this collection are planned until mid-2025)

These developments are accompanied by the development of reuse practices. Via “preserving” collection (which precedes the collection of bulky items), equipment and furniture are valued by resource series local, promoting their reuse and recycling.

Depending on the establishment, the simplification of bulky items calendar and the improvement of arrangements for illegal dumping are part of the general movement to improve the living environment.
