The general director of the Thiriet frozen food group, Christiane Bertoncini, who presented a strategic upscaling plan three months ago, announced this Friday, December 20, 2024, that she was leaving her position. “To you who for 16 years trusted me, […] I am infinitely grateful to you. I will miss nothing more than you, dear colleagues”writes Christiane Bertoncini on her LinkedIn page.
Contacted byAFPMaison Thiriet has indicated that it does not wish to comment on the subject for the moment. Christiane Bertoncini could not be reached to explain the reasons for her departure either.
French number two in frozen foods
The Thiriet group, number two in France in frozen foods, employs 3,000 people and claims a turnover of 800 million euros, according to figures communicated in September.
The company based in Eloyes (Vosges) then held around 10% of the frozen food market compared to double that for its competitor Picard, the rest coming from large general distribution. “The fact of weighing, in the equation, around 15%, is part of our ambitions”said Christiane Bertoncini at theAFP at the time.
The former general director had announced a strategic plan for 2026 comprising four axes: the integration of the value chain, so that Thiriet manufactures more of its own products; the creation of spaces bringing together its different brands on the same site; the opening of stores, particularly in regions where it has little presence; and reinforced communication with an advertising campaign planned before the end-of-year holidays.
Frozen food distributors, who had experienced a rebound in their sales during the confinements linked to Covid-19, saw their activity stall afterwards, under the pressure of inflation.
