Resuming their debate on the acceleration of procedures for solar, wind and hydroelectric power plants of national importance, the Council of States dealt a severe blow to the rights of appeal. This concerns the 16 hydroelectric projects already planned.

(Keystone-ATS) He decided on Thursday to exclude any rights of organizations against the rapid realization of the sixteen hydroelectric projects that the people legitimized in the electricity law passed last summer.
The left and part of the Center opposed such a restriction. Even if projects have been validated by the people, they must comply with the rules of the rule of law, declared Simon Stocker (PS/SH), who described this proposal as a massive blow.
Blowing up this fundamental right of associations amounts to crossing a red line, added Mathilde Crevoisier Crelier (PS/JU). However, it was guaranteed in the declaration of the round table in 2021 which resulted in these sixteen projects.
The round table is not legitimized by the people, unlike elected officials, replied Beat Rieder (C/VS). The right of appeal of private individuals remains maintained, he added. If we want to accelerate projects, we must act accordingly, added Benedikt Würth (C/SG). In the vote, the right won by 28 votes to 15.
