While foie gras remains one of the flagship products of the end-of-year celebrations, a product marketed by Leclerc is the subject of a massive recall throughout France. In a fact sheet published by Rappel conso last Friday, the mass distribution giant warns of a block of duck foie gras from the Delpeyrat brand, potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes (agent responsible for listeriosis).

The item concerned is a block of duck foie gras from the South West, vacuum-packed, weighing 540 g. The product, sold on December 12 by Leclerc, bears the following health mark: FR 40-281-001-CE.
Symptoms to watch out for
“People who have consumed the “products” mentioned and who present with a fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor,” indicates Rappel conso. Listeriosis is a potentially serious disease, with an incubation period of up to eight weeks.
It is therefore recommended not to present foie gras on your table at Christmas and to return it to the store. A refund of the product is planned. For any questions, you can contact 0.800.710.641.
