Montreal: three arrests after an armed attack

A man and a woman were injured after an armed attack on Sunday morning, which subsequently led to three arrests in the Ville-Marie borough of Montreal.

The crimes occurred around 3:30 a.m., at the corner of René-Lévesque Boulevard and Montcalm Street, according to the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

“A 26-year-old man was injured in the lower body by a sharp object,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. He was transported to a hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. As for the second victim, a 35-year-old woman, she was injured in the upper body by a blunt object. She was also transported to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.”

The police questioned witnesses to the altercation. The SPVM then made three arrests near the scene of the attack.

“These are two men aged 18 and a man aged 22,” said Mr. Brabant. They were transported to an investigation center where they will be met by investigators over the next few hours.”

A security perimeter was erected on Montcalm Street for the duration of the SPVM investigation, which used the canine unit. Rue Montcalm was therefore closed between Boulevard René-Lévesque and Rue Sainte-Catherine.
