Equipment breakdown: an outage affected more than 56,000 customers without electricity in Outaouais

A portion of Outaouais citizens found themselves without electricity due to equipment breakdown on Tuesday.

The outages mainly affect the Aylmer and Hull sectors, in Gatineau, Hydro-Québec said in a publication on X. Around 1 p.m., 56,818 customers still did not have power. This toll dropped to 23,950 people around 6 p.m. Around 7 p.m., only about 2,000 homes remained without power.

“The triggering of protection mechanisms in two substations on our high-voltage transmission network is currently causing a [panne]», Explained the state-owned company.
