Operating in a segment that is the scene of fiercely contested struggles, the German contender unveiled at the Los Angeles show is based on an updated chassis called MQB Evo. This transition reduces the total weight by 77 kg compared to its predecessor, despite a longer wheelbase.
The design, inspired by the brand’s electric models, is also smoother to look younger. A shorter rear overhang picks up somewhat visually. The SUV also loses the option of the third row of seats.
Under the front hood will be a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder producing 201 hp, a gain of 17 hp. Despite the increase in power, Volkswagen estimates that it will consume less thanks to its diet. However, no hybrid option is offered. More details will be announced in the coming months.
