Despite a sharp drop in production, Stellantis is maintaining its factories… in and for the moment

Last October, Stellantis saw its sales fall by 16.9% in the European market. This is a striking example, the group still falls by 6.9% over the first ten months of the year.

Mechanically, production is also falling. This is how out of the 766,000 vehicles planned, only 605,000 should be produced by the end of the year in . This is what our colleagues at Les Echos indicate, specifying that the and Hordain sites reach -22%, still compared to forecasts. The case of is even more alarming with – 28 % ! This site could, however, benefit from the extension of the career of the Opel Mokka and a planned delay of the DS 3 to Spain, again according to Les Echos. At the same time, “ additional hypotheses » like logistics would be under study.

Furthermore, the group has revised its objectives downward for the coming years. In 2026, production could reach 672,000 vehicles, i.e. 100,000 less than announced.

No factory closures… in France

Faced with such figures, Stellantis wishes at all costs to reassure by affirming that no factory will close in France. The CFE-CGC union specifies that “ Stellantis management has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining industrial activity in its French factories until 2027 ». What will happen next?

On the other hand, across the Channel, Stellantis could close the Luton site which manufactures utility vehicles. Of the 1,100 employees currently working there, some could be relocated to the north of England, to Ellesmere Port. Only one A hundred jobs could go down the drain.
