Future Nissan Juke SUV: what should we expect?

For the Japanese brand Nissan, the transition to electric will take place before 2035 the deadline in Europe which will prohibit the sale of new models with thermal engines. Nissan already has two “zero emission” models in its range of passenger vehicles, there is the Nissan Leaf and the Nissan Ariya SUV, but soon these 100% electric models will multiply, because the electric Nissan Micra will be there in 2025, and the “zero-emission” Nissan Juke is already on the brand’s program for 2026.

For the electric Nissan Juke which will arrive in 2026 – while the current version (thermal) has just been restyled at the start of the year – we already have an idea of ​​its style. Indeed, during the Tokyo Motor Show in November 2023, the Nissan brand presented several concept cars. One of them, the Nissan Hyper Punk, gives a good overall idea of ​​what the future Juke will be. which will arrive in two years. Nissan also confirmed this shortly after the Show by presenting its product plan for the English factory in Sunderland where the current Nissan Juke is assembled.

The first Nissan Juke was a hit

For the Nissan brand, sales of the Nissan Juke in Europe are important. Even if the current generation (the second) which arrived on the market at the end of 2019 does not enjoy the same success as the first sold a million copies on the European continent. It must be said that since the first generation of Juke, the city SUV category has expanded and that rivals, including the Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and Toyota Yaris Cross, are very strong in France and Europe.

The restyled Nissan Juke 2 could remain in the catalog for a long time

However, the Nissan Juke still pleases and Restyled Nissan Juke 2 even shows sales up 33% during the first six months of 2024 (compared to the same period in 2023). Moreover, this model is planned to remain until 2026 and despite the arrival of the new electric Juke model, he could put up resistance. Sunderland can certainly stock up to sell it after 2026. This is in order to keep some thermal sales for those who cannot or will not want to switch to electric.

A Mégane E-Tech platform and rising ratings

For Nissan, the transition to all-electric (especially in Europe) will take place in 2030, with the manufacturer aiming to become a “zero emissions” brand from that year. But we have already seen certain manufacturers, who are investing massively in 100% electric, modify their objectives and relaunch the production of thermal (electrified) models to maintain their production and sales. In any case, the future “three” generation of the Nissan Juke will be electric. And the Japanese brand will once again use a platform shared between Nissan and Renault. This is the CMF-EV platform which is that of the Nissan Ariya and Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric. Although it is more imposing than that (CMF-B-EV or Ampr Small) of the Renault 4 and 5 E -Tech Electric and the future Nissan Micra on batteries, it will allow the Nissan Juke to display larger dimensions (maximum 4.30 m in length) and to have more generous space and a larger trunk than the current generation.

A model as original as the first generation

As for the style, we already know, it is that of the Nissan Hyper Punk concept car from which the future Juke will be inspired. Compared to the prototype from the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show, the lines will be softened and much less exuberant, but the general look of the Hyper Punk will be retained. So, the Nissan Juke 3 could regain some of the originality of the first generation. On board, connectivity will reign supreme with large instrumentation and infotainment screens. There will undoubtedly be voice commands, USB-C connections in large numbers.

Electric engines of the Renault 5 for entry-level

For engines, the Nissan Juke should be equipped with that of Renault 5 E-Tech Electric for the entry level (120 and 150 hp) and engines more powerful like that of 220 hp of the Alpine A290 (and the Renault Mégane E-Tech) for a Nismo version that the Japanese brand will not fail to offer in the months following the launch of this model. Nissan plans to launch 19 electric models before 2030, the Nissan Juke will be one of them. The Japanese brand is also working on solid batteries, lighter and more efficient batteries which could be installed in the electric Nissan Juke, but not before 2028.
