This Monday, November 25, 2024, several workers at the LKQ company spontaneously walked off the job. In question, the attitude of the management which, in addition to wanting to lay off 266 jobs in Belgium, multiplies the “provocations” towards its staff.
It’s a fact: LKQ Belgium is doing well financially. However, the group’s management decides to restructure and does not assume its responsibilities towards the workers. She left the negotiating table during phase 2 of the Renault plan.
With 266 jobs threatened, workers are at their wits’ end and have taken the initiative to mobilize. Despite this, management’s priority seems to be above all its profits and to achieve its ends, it multiplies provocations.
This Monday morning, workers at the Mornimont site found themselves deprived of their work tools by management. In fact, it took the decision to empty the van parking lot and divert all orders to a French site of the group. In addition, management had planned to have 11 temporary workers work in the depot. Faced with these provocations, workers blocked the Nannine site. As a final provocation, management called on the police and a bailiff to bring down the strike picket.
Despite a proposal from the unions to resume negotiations, management persists and refuses to bring forward the meeting scheduled for December 3. The Vilvoorde site remains blocked. The CNE, CSC Metea and ACV Puls support the spontaneous movement of workers and call on management to return to the negotiating table as quickly as possible.
The unions denounce repeated provocations from management. Exasperated workers have no choice but to continue their mobilization to defend their jobs and their working conditions.
