Outlook and Excel are out of service

There are numerous complaints from Outlook users on Monday, November 25. And for good reason, many of them indicate that they cannot connect to their mailboxes. The same goes for some Microsoft 365 services.

A global outage

According to BFMconcerns have been reported on a global scale on Word, Powerpoint, and even Teams. According to the specialized site Downdetector, users from , Spain and the United States have been reporting these bugs since this morning. We are now seeing a downward trend in reports, even if all the problems do not seem to have disappeared.

On X (formerly Twitter), the Tech giant decided to communicate about this incident. The group confirms: “We are investigating an issue affecting users trying to access Exchange Online or Microsoft Teams Calendar features”.

The company does not directly refer to Outlook, but we encountered problems connecting to the platform. As recalled LiberationHowever, Exchange Online is the corporate email service that Outlook depends on.

According to the Belgian daily The eveningthe failure would be partly linked to the browser you are using: Google Chrome. If this is the case, you can use another one until the problem is resolved to access your mailbox. During our observations, however, Outlook did not work on the Firefox browser.

A giant breakdown remembered

As a reminder, Microsoft suffered a global outage last July. This problem concerned the CrowdStrike antivirus which is integrated into the Redmond firm's tools. The consequences have been massive on a global level. In France, several television channels have for example been impacted.

Likewise, several airports have encountered major problems with their IT services. This is the case for Amsterdam, Berlin and even Edinburgh.
