The largest employers’ association in the hotel and catering industry today launched a new campaign in French-speaking Switzerland, in collaboration with three-star chef Franck Giovannini. A short film shows how the chef and a brigade of young talents transform a parking lot in Biel into a magical place. The campaign highlights the opportunities offered by the hospitality industry and shows how the sector is actively shaping its future.

If the hotel and catering industry is an important economic factor, it is also a sector which offers multiple possibilities to creative and ambitious professionals. In French-speaking Switzerland, some 700,000 customers enter a restaurant, café or bar every day, which corresponds to 24% of all restaurant visits in Switzerland. The sector contributes considerably to the prosperity of the national economy with a gross added value of some CHF 10 billion for French-speaking Switzerland alone.

Franck Giovannini, the best-known chef in French-speaking Switzerland, joined the GastroSuisse campaign with the slogan: “Catering is amazing!”. “Today and in the future, we want to inspire talents who want to work in a sector that offers incredible diversity,” explains Franck Giovannini. We do not waste our time lamenting the shortage of qualified personnel. The campaign focuses on team spirit and creativity, in order to show to what extent our sector can be meaningful and a source of fulfillment. With nearly 5,700 members and more than 73,000 employees in French-speaking Switzerland, our sector is a key employer, but also a very important social hub.

“The hotel and catering industry is a sector that brings together people who are passionate about their profession,” declares Franck Giovannini. For many families, going to a restaurant is a special opportunity to share emotions and experience unforgettable moments. According to avanti.swiss, the platform developed especially for the campaign, 42% of those questioned say that joint visits to the restaurant strengthen their relationships in the long term. GastroSuisse and its member establishments unite and stimulate cohesion within communities.

The campaign highlights the unique character of the hotel and catering sector. AI, no matter how sophisticated, will never replace the soul of the workforce in our sector. “The strength of our branch is the human experiences that we provide and which deeply touch customers,” explains Franck Giovannini, reaffirming his commitment to this campaign. A short film shows how Franck Giovannini and his brigade of young talents transform an austere Biel parking lot into a warm place thanks to their enthusiasm and creativity.”

GastroSuisse is proud to launch this campaign and actively shape the future of the hotel and catering industry, together with chef Franck Giovannini and a brigade of young talents”, says Beat Imhof, president of GastroSuisse. The campaigns planned in Ticino and in German-speaking Switzerland will follow later.
