A cyberattack has deprived the Montreal-North borough of all its IT services since Monday, forcing the closure of certain services for potentially several weeks.
Posted at 12:22 p.m.
Borough employees no longer have access to their data, including their emails and calendars, and offices are deprived of wifi, confirmed Daniel Bussières, head of the communications division of Montréal-Nord. The outage could last several weeks.
The Montreal-North borough has filed an official complaint with the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), we can read in a press release issued in the afternoon. A specialist firm is now investigating the source of the cyberattack.
The district has not confirmed whether any confidential information was compromised.
The computer outage forces the closure of the Accès Montréal office and the permit offices in Montréal-Nord. Other municipal buildings, such as arenas and libraries, are still open.
