Two prestigious British brands are recalling some of their sports models

In quick succession, two of the jewels of the British automotive industry had to stage a recall. Certain examples of McLaren GT will therefore have to go back to the workshop, just like Aston Martin DB12, Vantage and DBX 707.

The concerns of a high-end sports car owner are not necessarily those of a Renault or Peugeot owner. But none of them are safe from recalls, a common practice in the auto industry. At Aston Martin, three models were even called into the workshop simultaneously. The “small” Vantage, the recent DB12 and the DBX 707 SUV could in fact suffer from the same defect: irregularities in the manufacturing process of the engine oil cooling radiator hoses.

Pipes to be replaced at Aston Martin

These pipes therefore risk breaking under the effect of variations in temperature and pressure, resulting in a lubricant leak. Enough to fear a stalling of the engine, or even breakage or even a fire in the most serious cases. To avoid these unfortunate consequences, to say the least, Aston Martin is recalling more than 4,000 examples worldwide, according to figures from the German Ministry of Transport KBA, in order to replace the Durit in question. All were manufactured between September 30, 2022 and July 9, 2024. For the moment, fortunately no accident has been reported.

A hood that opens at McLaren

On the McLaren side, it is only the GT which is the subject of a recall. Wanted to be a little more practical and comfortable than the rest of the range, this mid-rear engine sports car has had a very discreet career. Excessive tension in a cable could cause its front cover to open while driving. Visibility would then be seriously disrupted. The British brand is replacing the hinges on this cover to prevent this on units produced between August 9, 2019 and June 6, 2023. This time, we were not able to obtain the number of units affected, but it should be enough low, particularly in .
