The Leader Price supermarket in Brassac-les-Mines, in Puy-de-Dôme, is a ghost store: there is no more heating, no more supplies and fridges that have stopped working. A situation as grotesque as it is dramatic for the employees. Stella has worked here for 20 years. She feels totally abandoned. Stella Lamenie explains: “We are taken for imbeciles because we have been made to believe mountains and wonders. We received our salary for the month of August and nothing since. We invested a lot in this store and it's over”.

Last June, a woman bought the store and promised investments but the situation continued to deteriorate. Jocelyne Carbonnier, of the CGT Issoire, underlines: “We suspect organized insolvency. We understood that we were dealing with a somewhat dubious boss because the capital is 1,000 euros. This same boss bought other stores on which we see 200 euros of capital”.

So as not to be blamed for abandoning their position, employees continue to work for free. Proceedings have been initiated before the commercial court and the industrial tribunal. Reached by telephone, the manager denies having bought a dilapidated store riddled with debt. She assures that investments will be made and that the store will remain open. Hard to believe since the employees permanently closed the doors this Wednesday, November 20. A page is turning for Josiane, who began her career here in 1991. Josiane Bousserolles, store employee, specifies: “We're going to look for a job but at my age I don't know.”

At 57, it's quite difficult to find a job. There is wear and tear on the job so it's not easy

The employees handed over the keys to the safe and the store to the gendarmerie. The commercial court is due to study the case on December 5. A date eagerly awaited by employees who ultimately hope to be compensated thanks to the guarantee fund.
