An extraordinary CSE was held on Monday November 18, 2024 on the Michelin site in Golbey (Vosges). He was summoned by management following the announcement of the closure of the two factories in Vannes (Morbihan) and Cholet (Maine-et-Loire).
Specializing in the manufacture of steel frames for heavy goods vehicle tires, the Vosges site must recover part of the production. According to union representatives interviewed on November 6, 2024, the two announced closures will have significant repercussions for Golbey in terms of production and workload for employees.
At Michelin, we have a little difficulty recruiting and retaining people, that's the main concern.
Grégory Peltier, SUD union representative at Michelin Golbey.
Golbey has had confirmation of the resumption of part of Vannes' production. To ensure this increase in workload, it will be necessary to recruit fifty people, but according to Grégory Peltier, delegate of the SUD union, the majority, no precise deadline has been announced: “we do not yet have precise dates for when we will recover the surplus production and recruitment. For the moment, it is a project, it is a little vague”.
Grégory Peltier is not particularly worried about the sustainability of the Golbey site. It is capable of absorbing surplus production: “we produce high-end products, we are the exclusive supplier to a major client in Romania which manufactures eighty percent of heavy-duty tires.”
Contacted, the CFE-CGC is waiting, before expressing itself, to obtain precise information concerning the transfer of activities from Vannes to Golbey.
