all travel will be affected

The total interruption of train traffic at Cornavin station in Geneva due to work next weekend will have significant consequences on all travel in the sector. A replacement system by buses, coaches and trams will be put in place, but it will be necessary to take into account extended travel times.

For people going to the airport, trains will stop at Nyon. The connection will be made with a direct bus. You should allow around thirty minutes more for this journey, warn the CFF. More than 70 customer assistants will be present in stations to help travelers.

For passengers coming from (F) and heading to the airport, Léman Express trains will stop at Lancy Pont-Rouge. They will have to continue their journey with tram 15 to Cornavin station, then take bus line 5. These two lines will be reinforced during the weekend.

Furthermore, SNCF TER traffic as well as the TGV Lyria will be interrupted between Geneva and Bellegarde (F). Alternative transport will be provided by bus.

Diversion for cars

Traffic around Cornavin station will be disrupted for motorized vehicles. The Passage des Alpes will be closed to traffic, with the exception of buses and taxis which will be authorized to travel in the downward direction. A diversion via Quai Wilson, Avenue de la Paix and Avenue Giuseppe-Motta is planned.

Access to the Cornavin car park from the Passage des Alpes will be prohibited. The taxi pick-up area initially located on the station square has been moved to the Cornavin underground car park, on level -1.

Finally, tpg lines 60 and 61 will turn around at Place des Nations, with access to Cornavin station via tram line 15. All other bus services will operate normally.

Miles of cables

Train traffic will be interrupted from Saturday November 23 at 7:00 p.m. to Sunday November 24 at 3:00 p.m. In general, the SBB recommends not traveling by train during this period. And in case of essential travel, you must consult the timetable online.

SBB is to put its largest computerized order center into operation. The ‘real brain’ of the station, he will be responsible for controlling and piloting all of the railway switches and signals.
