Maud Poncé-Hubier, general director of Payot: “We must seek turnover to ensure the sustainability of the company”

Published on November 18, 2024 at 05:35.

The announcement of Pascal Vandenberghe’s departure last February represented a small bolt from the blue in the book landscape in French-speaking Switzerland. The emblematic president and CEO of Payot, who exercised his right to retire, has indeed left his mark on the company. In 2014, the entrepreneur bought Payot from the Lagardère group in order to guarantee an independent future for the brand, with a network in French-speaking Switzerland of 13 bookstores and 4 Nature & Découvertes stores, and some 400 employees.

The group’s board of directors has entrusted management to a pair, Maud Poncé-Hubier and Bénédicte Kuchcinski, two experienced executives of the company. The first, who occupies the role of general manager, has worked at Payot for fourteen years. She was previously responsible for financial responsibility and all support functions of the company. As for the deputy general director, Bénédicte Kuchcinski, she has worked there for seventeen years. She notably managed the Lausanne bookstore, before taking the reins of communications two years ago. The duo works closely together.
