As the holidays approach, the Christmas bonus introduces an important new feature: an increase of 35% for single-parent families. Here is everything you need to know to benefit from this exceptional assistance.
Essential help for 2.3 million households
For 26 years, the Christmas bonus has provided major financial support for low-income households during the holiday period. Paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF)the Agricultural social mutuality (MSA) or France Work (formerly Pôle emploi), this aid is expected each year by 2.3 million households in France.
The amounts vary depending on the composition of the household:
- 152,45 euros for a single person without children.
- 228,67 euros for a couple without children.
- 320,14 euros for a couple with two children.
- 60,98 euros Additional fees are granted for each child beyond two.
This transfer is automatic for eligible beneficiaries and is generally made in mid-December, around the 15th. This year, with December 15 falling on a Sunday, payments should take place between Friday December 13 and Monday December 16.
Something new in 2024: an increase for single-parent families
For the first time, the Christmas bonus is accompanied by 35% increase intended for single-parent families. This measure allows a significant revaluation of the allocated amounts. Here are some examples of the new amounts collected:
- 308,72 euros for a single person with a child, compared to 152.45 euros previously.
- 370,45 euros for a person with two children.
- 452,78 euros for a household with three children.
Beyond three children, an increase of 82,32 euros is applied per additional child. This advance aims to meet the specific needs of single-parent families, often faced with significant financial burdens at the end of the year.
Specific steps to obtain the increase
Unlike the standard payment, this increase is not automatic. The families concerned must make an explicit request with the organization paying their benefits, such as CAF, MSA or France Travail. This request involves providing supporting documents proving the composition and situation of their household.
To avoid any delays, it is advisable to carry out this process as soon as possible, as processing times could lead to complications if the request is made late.
Who is eligible for the Christmas bonus?
The Christmas bonus is only intended for beneficiaries of certain social minimums, received in November or December:
- The Active solidarity income (RSA).
- L’Specific solidarity allowance (ASS).
- L’Retirement equivalent allowance (AER).
On the other hand, people receiving other allowances such asReturn to work allowance (ARE)l’Disabled adult allowance (AAH) or the minimum old age cannot claim it.
Valuable support as the holidays approach
In a context where expenses increase considerably at the end of the year, this bonus remains a welcome boost for low-income households. Single-parent families, often more exposed to insecurity, will benefit from increased support this year thanks to the increase. It is imperative for these households not to wait to assert their rights and thus reduce the burden of this festive period.
Don’t miss this opportunity: the Christmas bonus could well make the difference to your budget this year.
