Questioned by Actu.fr, Friday November 15, the president of the National Union of Owners (Unpi), Sylvain Grataloup, estimated that the property tax, originally devolved to owners, should be shared with the tenant of the rented property.
For Sylvain Grataloup, the answer is obvious. According to the lawyer specializing in real estate law, tenants, although not owning property, should pay, in part, this tax. It should therefore be shared between the two parties.
A property tax for tenants: an aberration?
Questioned in the columns of Actu.fr, the latter testifies: “There is no reason why tenants should not pay it, quite simply because they benefit from the positive impacts of this tax”he says. “Communities use it to create collective facilities, daycare centers for example. Who benefits from it? Those who live in the municipality”insists the representative of the real estate owners.
According to Sylvain Grataloup, since the abolition of the housing tax in 2023, tenants will no longer participate in the financing of local public services. “We must make everyone responsible”preaches the lawyer. For the CLCV association (Consommation, Housing and Living Environment), an association which defends the interests of consumers, this proposal is an aberration. “The property tax is attached to the rights of the land and the property. When the tenant leaves, he is not going to take part of the building with him.” “This is not justified at all”she concludes.
