The Giroux clan had sought this summer to obtain the recusal of the trial judge, accusing him of bias.

After failing at first instance, the businessman’s lawyers appealed to the Court of Appeal, which agreed to hear their request, leading to the suspension of proceedings.

The province’s highest court, however, rejected their arguments in a decision that fell Thursday, suggesting that the trial could resume where it left off.

Remember that around fifty millionaires are suing Robert Giroux and companies linked to him for the significant losses they allegedly suffered in the Huot Group debacle.

The trial began in May 2024 after numerous postponements. He was scheduled to continue for three more weeks in September and November before being put on ice.
