Swiss startup LocalStack has closed a $25 million Series A fundraising round. Its solution allows developers to create local AWS environments for testing and development.
Swiss start-up LocalStack announces that it has obtained $25 million in Series A funding. Its stated goal is to offer developers greater control over cloud development. LocalStack offers AWS emulation for development and testing environments. This open-source solution allows developers to replicate an AWS environment directly on their local machine, with no service fees.
According to LocalStack, companies can reduce their AWS bill by providing their teams with a secure workspace. Users benefit from configuration templates that make it easier to adopt realistic application scenarios, speeding up creation, configuration, and deployment.
LocalStack also enables workflows not possible in the cloud. For example, the state of the infrastructure and all its data can be saved and restored in “pods”. In addition, resilience tests can be carried out using a Chaos Engineering approach. With these features, developers can introduce simulated errors and latencies to analyze their system’s behavior in the face of unforeseen events.
The startup claims 8 million weekly sessions, 280 million Docker downloads and more than 900 paying customers. The recent fundraising aims to strengthen LocalStack’s capabilities by extending its services beyond AWS. “Snowflake’s recent pre-releases and our roadmap for an Azure emulator position us to support multi-cloud strategies, essential for modern businesses,” LocalStack’s statement read.
