In addition to suffering from an attrition of power, the Legault government is experiencing, like many other administrations in the world, the post-pandemic fall in support which it will be hard to slow down.

There is something ungrateful for François Legault.
We cannot say that he did nothing good during the pandemic, far from it.
The idea of accelerated and paid training to urgently find beneficiary attendants was not a bad idea.
The government has put in place a boss for each CHSLD and increased the salaries of teachers and nurses, in particular, who Quebec sorely needs.
He has also put a lot of money back into the pockets of citizens since his first election in 2018.
Despite everything, taxpayers are being strangled by an exorbitant increase in the cost of living.
Grocery bills, gas bills and housing prices make life difficult, even for workers.
And the government no longer has any financial room for maneuver, with a deficit of 11 billion, to restore oxygen to Quebecers.
Few results
Meanwhile, despite well-informed decisions, health objectives are far from being achieved.
Quebecers struggle to access services.
Perhaps nurse mobility and reduced reliance on private agencies will yield more visible results after the 2026 election.
They risk benefiting another government, like the CAQ enjoyed a surplus of 7 billion in 2018.
And credibility
What hurt Legault was also a loss of credibility.
The Broken Promise of 3e link, which he later resurrected after the slap in Jean-Talon, seems to have become an inflection point.
His never-realized threats to the federal government on immigration also lead to disillusionment.
And the battery sector’s bet seems very uncertain.
The CAQ leader still has two years left, but the coffers being empty, it will be difficult for him to escape this spiral which is sucking him downward.
