The revaluation of Agirc-Arrco pensions is imminent, and many retirees are asking questions regarding the amount of the increase in their pension. This is the case of a retiree who receives €2,500 per month and who wants to know what increase to expect.
In France, not all retirees benefit from the same conditions. While some receive high pensions, others have to make do with more modest amounts. For retirees receiving low income, although they have contributed regularly, it is sometimes difficult to get by. The 2023 pension reform pushed back the legal retirement age, but it also allowed some to see their increased pension. However, the news regarding the increase in pensions from Agirc-Arrco diet for the month of November are not particularly encouraging. If you receive a pension of €2,500 per month, here are the details of the expected increase.
Retirement: how much will your pension increase?
A rule scrupulously applied
Every year, the former private sector employees benefit from an increase in their supplementary pension, based on the value of the point which determines the amount of the pension. This increase occurs every 1is November, according to a precise process which takes into account inflation excluding tobacco and negotiations between unions and employers. The agreement recently signed between the managers of Agirc-Arrco stipulates that the revaluation will be indexed to the inflation rate, with a sustainability factor of 0.40 points for the period 2024-2026. In other words, this year's increase will be lower than inflation, but limited to a maximum of 0.4 points.
A rate already determined
A few weeks ago, the social partners were debating the level of the increase based on inflation forecasts. Today, the rate is known: inflation was 2% in 2023, which means that the increase in Agirc-Arrco pensions will be 1.6%, reports MoneyVox. This increase will concern all retirees of the plan, and will take effect from November 4. If you are wondering why this delay, it is a decision of the managers of the supplementary pension system. Also note that if you retire in July with a small pension, you will not benefit from this immediate increase, but other solutions can be considered.
What will be the increase for a pension of €2,500?
If you are a former executive and receive a pension of €2,500 per month, you will benefit from a more significant increase than a retiree receiving €1,500 in pension. According to data from Drees, less than 15% of retirees receive such a sum, or even more. By calculating the increase, you will see an increase of around €50 per month.
A less significant increase than in 2023
In 2023, the increase in pensions was 4.9%. In 2024, it will only be 1.6%, a difference of 3.3 points, which constitutes a notable loss for retirees with lower pensions. Although the increase will be maintained, it will be more modest, without taking into account the delay in the increase in basic pensions.
Retirement: see you in July for basic pensions
Why such a choice?
Usually, the increase in basic pensions occurs on January 1. But 2025 will mark an exception. After the announcement of measures intended to reduce the budget deficitthe government took the decision to postpone the revaluation of basic pensions to July 1. This decision is based on the COR's conclusions, according to which most retirees are not in a precarious situation.
When will the increase in basic pensions take place?
Following the announcement of the freezing of increase in pensions by the government, retirees will have to wait until July 1, 2025 to see their basic pensions increased. Unlike the November revaluation, this will not be retroactive and will be lower than that which should have been applied at the start of the year.
