Never two without three. VTC drivers will mobilize for a 3rd day of movement in Toulouse. “When we act in a pacifist way, it doesn’t work. From now on, all our demonstrations will be offensive,” warns Serge. Contacted by Toulouse Newsthis professional defines himself as the leader of the movement.

New disruptions are therefore expected on the roads of Toulouse for this Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Here is what is planned.

What they claim

Since Monday, November 3, VTC drivers (acronym for “Transport Car with Driver”) have been making their voices heard on the roads of Toulouse. In line of sight, reservation platforms — like Uber, of course, but also new market players, like Bolt — who, in their eyes, do not pay the right price for rides.

The demonstrators also demand more regulation in this sector where new players are growing like mushrooms. “The market is saturated and our prices are very tight. Hundreds of colleagues still settle in Toulouse every year,” sighed a driver on condition of anonymity to Toulouse News.

These angry professionals are demanding a “stop of registrations” to “limit the number of VTC drivers and eliminate false profiles”.

“No one came to meet us”

After two days of action, “no one came to meet us,” protests Serge. Neither representatives of Uber, nor the prefecture.” The anger is therefore far from having subsided, which leads to a new day of mobilization announced for this Wednesday.

On the program, meet early in the morning, around 6:30 a.m., in the Sesquières car park. In one procession, the drivers will head to Bolt headquarters in Saint-Martin-du-Touch.

As a result, disruptions are expected on the A620, in the sector, as well as on the A624.

Will the airport be blocked?

For the rest of the day, the procession should head towards Toulouse airport to “organize a big blockade”, explains Serge, who was still waiting, this Tuesday afternoon, to obtain all the authorizations from the prefecture.

Monday like Tuesday, around a hundred drivers mobilized on the roads of Toulouse. The prefecture, for its part, counted 95 VTC on Monday and 70 on Tuesday.
