Record year for Compagnie des Alpes, world leader in ski operators

The causes of indisputable commercial success

In detail, for the 23/24 financial year, the Ski Areas and Outdoor Activities division achieved a turnover of €552.8 million compared to €489.2 million for the previous financial year, representing growth of 13%. “The CA […] is driven by an 8.1% increase in the number of skier days [13,8 millions contre 12,7 millions, ndlr] and by an increase in average income per skier day of 5.2%.” This increase is explained, according to the CDA, by “a very good level of snowfall”, the “optimal positioning of the French school holiday calendar and its good complementarity with those of other European countries” and “the joint efforts of the group and the entire mountain ecosystem to promote the resorts”.

Summer activities also successful

The turnover of the Leisure Parks division exceeds €570 million, up 5.9% at constant scope over one year. This result is, for the CDA, “a performance all the more remarkable as the year was marked by several factors which weighed on site attendance”.

Namely “very bad weather conditions”, the holding of major sporting events including the Games and “three electoral Sundays in in June-July, periods of high attendance at the sites”. The CDA emphasizes that activity in its parks was “particularly dynamic in August, with attendance records having been reached in several sites”.

Finally, the Distribution & Hospitality division recorded a turnover of €116.4 million, up 5.5% over one year. The division “is today the leading manager of warm beds in the French Alps (29,000 beds under management)”, insists the CDA.

A dynamic that should not fade

On the occasion of the publication of these results, the company reveals that, for the coming winter season, in the mountains, “the trends of certain indicators such as accommodation reservation rates are, to date, trending favorably ”. Concerning the leisure parks, she indicates that “the Halloween season has started satisfactorily. BtoC and BtoB pre-sales and reservations for this period are increasing compared to those of last year at the same date. The indicators for the Christmas period are also favorably oriented.”
