Cascades announces organizational changes aimed at supporting its strategic growth

KINGSEY FALLS, QC, the 30 oct. 2024 /CNW/ – Cascades Inc. (TSX: CAS) today announces organizational changes aimed at supporting its strategic growth by strengthening alignment, increasing agility, improving execution and accelerating decision-making within the organization. These changes will be effective on November 11.

The company announces that it will combine its containerboard packaging and specialty products (GPS) activities within a single operational unit. This grouping will unite the network and strength of containerboard with the agility and remarkable sense of innovation of GPS. Sir Jean-David Tardifcurrently president and chief operating officer of Cascades Tissue Group, will assume the position of executive vice-president, packaging.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA, Jean-David Tardif joined Cascades in 1997. He has worked for each of the company’s three groups. From 2013 to 2017, he was vice-president, consumer products within the Tissue Group. He subsequently held the position of vice-president, operations for Containerboard Packaging from 2017 to 2019. He then returned to the Tissue Group as president and chief operating officer.

“Jean-David played a decisive role in the recovery of the strategic positioning and profitability of the Tissue Group. He has thus demonstrated the full extent of his leadership and talent to unlock the full potential of a high-performance team and improve customer service. I am convinced that he has everything it takes to succeed in this new challenge,” underlined the President and CEO of Cascades, Hugues Simon.

Over the coming weeks, to carry out this regrouping, Mr. Tardif will be able to count on the support of Charles Malocurrent president and chief operating officer of Cascades Containerboard Packaging. The latter recently informed the company of his wish to pass the torch, at the end of the transition, in order to devote himself to personal projects.

The company also announced that Jérôme Porlier will serve as executive vice president, fabric. Mr. Porlier is currently President and Chief Operating Officer of Cascades Specialized Products Group.

Jérôme Porlier joined Cascades in 2012. He has assumed different roles within the Tissue Group, including factory director and general manager. In 2019, he joined the Specialty Products Group as vice-president, operations and then as president and chief operating officer. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration, he also completed Six Sigma’s Black Belt Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement training.

“A mobilizing manager, structured and appreciated for his positive leadership, Jérôme has enabled GPS to deliver the best results in its history in recent months. He embodies the rising generation of competent and eco-responsible leaders. I am convinced that he has all the qualities necessary to meet this new challenge successfully,” underlined Hugues Simon.

Finally, the company announces the appointment of Emmanuelle Migneault to the position of vice-president, excellence. Supported by an agile team, its mandate will be to support management teams in prioritizing and implementing value-creating opportunities. She will facilitate collaborations and support business units in the execution of initiatives.

Ms. Migneault currently holds the position of vice-president, human resources for the Tissue Group. Working for Cascades since 2001, Emmanuelle Migneault held various positions in human resources and change management within the company. She was an important contributor to the recovery of the Tissue Group. She was also vice-president, human resources for the Specialty Products Group.
