In La Provence, imminent departure of editorial director Aurélien Viers

The editorial director of ProvenceAurélien Viers, will leave his position this Friday evening. The information is revealed by the media The Letter. Our colleagues write that the latter is “pushed towards the exit” by CMA Media, the media group created by shipowner Rodolphe Saadé, head of CMA CGM and owner of the daily. Aurélien Viers had already almost been dismissed seven months ago, after a visit by Emmanuel Macron to Castellane. The front page of Provence the next day, which covered this trip, had displeased the owner of the newspaper, considering that a confusion could be made between the inhabitants of the neighborhood and the traffickers.

Contacted by MarchAurélien Viers specifies leaving this Friday, but does not mention this previous conflict. He presents his departure as “voluntary”, motivated by “personal reasons, professional opportunities and the implementation of a new editorial strategy”. Without giving details on this future direction of the newspaper, Aurélien Viers explains having wanted “anticipate things when leaving”.
