This regulation concerns “all people who purchased a product subject to Dollarama Ecofees in Quebec between December 11, 2019 and July 4, 2023, or elsewhere in Canada between April 29, 2021 and July 4, 2023”.

Therefore, anyone who purchased batteries, electronic products, light bulbs or toys containing batteries during this period may be entitled to compensation.

The woman who filed the class action request claims that “Dollarama did not properly advertise the price of the products subject to Ecofees that it offered for sale and that it charged a higher price or Ecofees than those advertised for these products or authorized by law.

Dollarama agreed to pay a total amount of $2,643,718.75.

Canadians who purchased the products covered by this class action could receive a maximum of $10 each by Interac transfer, “depending on the total number of approved claimants.”

The settlement must be approved by the Court on December 2.
