VOO endangered? Bought by , the operator will experience profound changes in the coming months: the impact for customers

will eliminate the Voo brand and close the brand’s stores

In 2021, Orange won the bet and bought 75% of Voo’s shares. A figure which even rose to 100% last May. And who says total takeover obviously means future changes and economies of scale. The question of maintaining two similar brands on the market obviously arises, and an article published this weekend by L-Post has attracted attention. We learn that the Voo brand should disappear from the landscape in September 2025, but also that all Voo stores will gradually close in the coming months, as commercial leases end. The staff of these stores should keep their jobs, but without guarantees at this stage in terms of salary.

As for Orange, the spokesperson this Monday stuck to a “no comment” on the circumstances. “All I can tell you is that the information on the stores was already known, with a test phase which made it possible to integrate several Voo stores into Orange stores. The feedback we have received is very positive and we will continue this integration phase without job loss and with training for Voo salespeople.“, explains Sven Adams, Orange spokesperson.

Furthermore, several internal sources allow us to see things more clearly. We learn in particular that the date of September 2025 is one of the options on the table, but that nothing has been decided for the time being. This would be an internal leak, while this decision must be the subject of a vote by the management of the Orange group, to which no project has yet been presented.

Very high-speed Internet: 34 Luxembourg municipalities have been selected by Orange/VOO

Note also that the future of the WBCC call center located in Herstal is not in question. “This center already takes calls from Orange customers, and we bought it to benefit from its expertise“, an internal source tells us.

For customers, nothing changes, for the moment…

The staff at Voo are therefore expectant, and it is the same for the customers. Will the announced end – no matter the date – of Voo leave customers in the lurch? Don’t worry, no. Orange intends to keep all these customers under its wing. For the moment, Orange tells us that there are no changes expected. On the Voo site, we also reassure customers following the total takeover of Orange last spring.

But, concretely, here are some ideas. Changing operator obviously means changing your Sim card, decoder and WiFi modem. This change should happen little by little, with the opportunity to move to Orange, or to Hey, its “low-cost” brand. A two-headed formula reminiscent of the Voo-Zuny duo, whose second city has just disappeared. Last mid-September, Voo (and therefore Orange) stopped the marketing of Zuny products, which will all go under the Hey brand, with similar prices and even some welcome gifts, such as a doubling of data.

We should therefore expect the same thing when the time comes for Voo to bow out. The key will be to do it gently and provide technical services that match.
