the town hall assures that it is “ready” for a “start in the fall”

City Hall is ready to set up its limited traffic zone in the center of the capital from November. Patrick Bloche, first deputy, and David Belliard detail the outlines of the project.

A limited traffic zone from November? Patrick Bloche, the first deputy mayor of Paris, assured that the municipality was “ready” for the establishment of the limited traffic zone (ZTL) in the center of Paris.

“We are ready, all we have to do is press the button,” he replied to BFM Paris Île-de- in September.

The town hall reassures Parisian drivers

The State must append its signature to the future decree that will be issued. “It’s a perimeter, outside the high quays and outside the islands,” David Belliard said this Friday at the microphone of BFM Paris Île-de-France. The latter fall under the “competence of the police headquarters”, specifies the Paris Center town hall.

The principle of the limited traffic zone is to prohibit transit traffic in the central districts of Paris, that is to say drivers who do not stop and who only cross said zone.

“I reassure everyone. We will still be able to circulate in the area, residents, people with a reduced mobility card, workers in the area, delivery people, doctors, patients for medical consultation. We will still be able to attend shops and cultural activities We will always be able to go to our loved ones”, lists the elected official.

“All this to say that, obviously, this is not an area where it will no longer be possible to travel by car,” he continues.

For David Belliard, “the consultation took place” including “a public inquiry in the spring”. “We are ready, the panels are being installed,” explained Patrick Bloche, who is aiming for a “start in the fall”.

Panels already installed

David Belliard recognizes a “delay” compared to the planned schedule, “due to lack of government” in recent weeks.

Although installed, the panels are however hidden, specifies the Paris Center town hall to BFM Paris Île-de-France, pending the signing of the decree. The first were installed at the corner of rue de Choiseul and boulevard desItaliens last week, indicates the municipality.

“We are waiting for the State to complete its commitment and co-sign the implementation decree,” recalled the first deputy.

Concerning controls, “it is not a question of making it a highly controlled zone”, assumes the elected socialist mayor of Paris.

“Firstly because habits will form quite quickly. Because we have a municipal police force. We will increase the number of staff to ensure peace and respect for the rules. They will be particularly mobilized in this limited traffic zone,” assures Patrick Bloche.

“This subject was discussed between the mayor of Paris and the minister of transport,” assures David Belliard, the environmentalist deputy to the mayor of Paris in charge of mobility, while Anne Hidalgo and François Durovray met this Friday. “They agreed on the interest of this device,” continues David Belliard.
