Are you one of the 850,000 people who will receive a transfer of €600 at the end of September?

Many retirees will receive a transfer of 600 euros at the end of September. And you are probably one of them.

Retirement in is a subject that regularly comes to the fore of the sceneIt must be said that in recent years, reforms have been in full swing.

Pensions in the era of reforms under Emmanuel Macron

The subject of retirement in France is a major concern. Both for seniors and for the youngestparticularly since the adoption of the recent reform under Elisabeth Borne.

To ensure a sufficient pension, many retirees, including those from the middle class, choose to combine employment and retirement. They are therefore afraid of not having enough resources to provide for to their needs.

Recently, the Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES) published the figures concerning retirement pensions in France for 2024. At the end of 2021, 17 million people were receiving a pension.

The latter was thus intended to come from at least one French regime, i.e. 100,000 more than the previous year. The average direct entitlement pension, including the increase for families with three or more children, amounts to 1,531 euros gross monthly.

For retirees living in France, this corresponds to 1,420 euros net per month. However, these amounts vary considerably depending on individual situations.

Widening inequalities

Despite this average, many retirees receive pensions much weaker. Sometimes as low as 200 euros per month for one person.

In addition, significant disparities remain between men and womenAccording to the DREES, women receive on average a direct pension that is 40% lower than that of men.

However, they often benefit from survivor’s pensions. A mechanism that allows them to receive part of their deceased spouse’s pension.

Nearly 88% of the beneficiaries of these pensions say they are women. The DREES underlines also that a portion of French people who have reached legal retirement age continue to work.

At the end of 2021, 27% of people aged 61 were already retired. While 15% of 65-year-olds had not yet retired.

By the way, please note that it is possible to validate up to five years of contributions without having worked. And this is thanks to the assimilated quarters. Also called free quarters.

These periods, such as unemployment or motherhoodare thus taken into account in the calculation of retirement. Although they do not offer a premium.

Pensions increased at the end of September

During the pension reform, the former Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne had announced a revaluation for 1.8 million small pensions. Specifically for beneficiaries of the increased minimum contributory pension (MiCo).

This increase therefore concerned those who had contributed to the minus 120 quarters and having left with a full rate. Around 600,000 people had already benefited from an increase of €1 to €100 (i.e. €50 on average), applied to their pension.

But then, who will receive a transfer of €600? Around 850,000 people, who had not not yet benefited of this revaluation, are concerned.

These are people with small pensions who have difficult careers to rebuild or who left before 2009. These French people will receive a catch-up payment of €600, corresponding to the revaluation they should have received. for a year.

From October 9, 2024, their monthly pension will also increase by around €50. According to Renaud Villardgeneral director of Cnav, the retirees concerned will receive an average of €600 in retroactivity, corresponding to €50 multiplied by 12 months.

This amount is gross and subject to CSG, except for those exempt. The increase monthly pensions varies between €1 and €100, and the transfer could range from a few dozen euros to more than €1,000. And the transfer will be made around September 25, 2024.
