This had been confirmed before the summer. After four years of absence, the Nocturne des Coteaux is making its grand return on Saturday 5 October, illuminated by thousands of candles and enlivened by performances from the performing arts. “This magical event will not be a simple revival, but will be part of a wider programme aimed at revitalising the centre of Liège,” the organisation says.
The Nocturne des Coteaux de la Citadelle had been cancelled four years in a row due to Covid and tram works. The event attracted up to 40,000 people attracted by the 25,000 candles placed in the streets, alleys and dead ends of the historic centre (above the rue Hors-Château) and on the steps of the Montagne de Bueren to create an atmosphere with magical illuminations.
This year, for its big comeback, the formula is extended to an area that goes from Place Saint-Lambert to the Esplanade Saint-Léonard, in interaction with the October fair and the wedding night. The general director of the OPRL had announced the presence of the philharmonic orchestra at the event.
