GAFFE – The actress did not suspect that this cover would be forever visible on the Web
Drew Barrymore is making her mea culpa. Nearly 30 years after posing on the cover of Playboythe 49-year-old actress looks back on this episode with a very different perspective. In a long Instagram post titled “PHONE HOME”, in reference to E.T.the star once again looked back on her bumpy journey as a child star.
“I grew up in adult environments and worked from a very young age,” says Drew Barrymore. “I was exposed to a lot of hedonistic situations at parties, and even in my own home, where I saw things that caused me great shame.” It was in this context that she was to pose, at the age of 19, for the January 1995 issue of the famous glamour magazine. A choice she regrets very much today.
The weight of the Internet
“At the time, I thought it was a magazine that was unlikely to resurface because it was in print. I didn’t know there was going to be the Internet,” continues Drew Barrymore. Now a mother of two daughters, aged 12 and 10, Drew Barrymore wants to protect them “the way she would have liked to be protected.” Indeed, for the actress, the Web offers the same lack of limits that she was exposed to when she was young, and she doesn’t want her children to suffer from such a lack of(…) - 20minutes
