IHe is making his entrance at Matignon. Michel Barnier, appointed by Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, September 5, is now the new head of government. He arrived at around 6 p.m. in the courtyard of the Hôtel de Matignon, for the official handover of power with his predecessor Gabriel Attal. This began with a closed-door meeting. An opportunity for them to take stock of the issues that have been on hold for more than fifty days.

After half an hour of discussions, the two statesmen arrived on the steps of Matignon. “France has a new Prime Minister. As I leave my duties at Matignon, I would like to congratulate you,” Gabriel Attal greeted Michel Barnier, before “warmly” thanking Emmanuel Macron for his “trust.”
