Nearly two months after presenting his resignation to Emmanuel Macron, Gabriel Attal is replaced, this Thursday, September 5, by Michel Barnier as Prime Minister. Having been Prime Minister was “an honour”, stated Gabriel Attal, on the steps of Matignon. Before specifying: “Because it allows you to act. But eight months is short. Too short. I won’t hide it, there are frustrations. With my team and the government, for eight months, we acted and worked hard with the ambition of keeping our promise”.
According to him, “in other circumstances we could have completed this work successfully, allowed the French to live better and France to be even stronger.”

The youngest Prime Minister of the Fifth Republic, appointed at the age of 34, stated that he had undertaken “structuring projects so that work pays better”: “Over the last ten months, we have worked on measures that were to be presented this summer. We must respond to the vital need for public service, first and foremost education. If I had to make just one request of you, continue to make education an absolute priority. Because education is the life insurance of the Republic.”
“A few days after the start of the school year, I want to express my gratitude to the teachers and teaching staff. We do not forget, we think of Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard every day. School is the mother of all battles,” he added.
Before concluding, regarding his assessment: “We will always prefer requirement to leveling down and laxity. Fundamental knowledge to the dissolution of knowledge.”
