Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano said that:He was ready to resign if Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni asked him to do so.during an exclusive interview with TG1 on the Rai 1 television channel, Wednesday evening.

The 62-year-old minister admitted to having an affair with influencer Maria Rosaria Boccia41, whom he had appointed to a position as senior advisor for major events.

Gennaro Sangiuliano points out that this appointment was never finalized and that it had since been canceled, due to their relationship.

The Minister of Culture apologized to the government, his colleagues and his wife. He also assured that “not a single euro of Italian taxpayers’ money has been spent” and that“no confidential or classified documents concerning sensitive activities have been circulated”.

A long list of excuses

When asked by the news director of TG1 if he wanted to apologize, Gennaro Sangiuliano responded with a list:

“The first person I have to apologize to, because she is an exceptional person, is my wife. Then I apologize to Giorgia Meloni, who trusted me, for the embarrassment I caused her and, obviously, to the government.”he says.

“I also apologize to my colleagues who, although they did nothing, find themselves involved in this affair.”.

Giorgia Meloni has not yet asked Gennaro Sangiuliano to resign.
