The president, in office for a week, is diligently seeking a solution for this very popular application, but in the crosshairs of the American Congress, which accuses him of manipulating public opinion. « I’ve talked to many people about TikTok and there’s a lot of interest in it », he said on Saturday, indicating that he was in talks with several people about his takeover. « I will make this decision probably within the next 30 days. Congress gave 90 days. If we can save TikTok, I think it will be a good thing », he clarified.

A plan including ByteDance and Oracle

The Trump Administration is working on a plan that involves bringing in software company Oracle and a group of investors to take effective control of the app’s operations, people close to it say. Under the deal brokered by the White House, ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese owner, would retain a stake, but data collection and software updates would be overseen by Oracle, which already provides the basis of TikTok’s web infrastructure .
