According to the last Barometer of fixed Internet connections in Switzerland of nPerf produced for the year 2024, Salt is clearly the best fixed internet provider with its 10 gigabyte symmetrical fiber optic offer. Even if it’s not a surprise, some people may be surprised!
With an impressive overall score of 172,407 nPerf points, Salt largely dominates the Swiss fixed internet market in 2024. The operator stands out in particular with average download speeds of 570.61 Mb/s and upstream speeds of 448 Mb/s, far surpassing its competitors.
Latency, a crucial factor for a smooth user experience, is also to Salt’s advantage with just 9.15ms on average. These figures demonstrate the technical excellence of the Salt network and its ability to deliver world-class connectivity.
Domination in all areas
In terms of web browsing and video streaming, Salt maintains its superiority with respective scores of 85.96% and 93.76%. This high performance ensures users have a smooth online experience, whether for work or play, according to the nPerf report published on this page.
The operator particularly shines in the FTTH (Fiber To The Home) segment, where it achieves average download speeds of 777.38 Mb/s and upstream speeds of 617.01 Mb/s. These figures perfectly illustrate the potential of optical fiber deployed by Salt. It should be noted that Salt only offers its customers fiber while its competitors drag behind them obsolete technologies (copper, cable): the museum of horrors!
Competition distanced, but active
-So, obviously, behind Salt, we find Swisscom and Sunrise (UPC) vying for second place with respective nPerf scores of 144,591 and 143,127 points. Although behind, these operators are still showing signs of improvement, notably Sunrise (UPC) with an increase of 22% in download speeds.
The small French-speaking operator Netplus.ch, fourth in the ranking with 139,990 points, is not unworthy and even shows a good increase of 35.8% on upstream debits. This positive dynamic reflects a competitive market which pushes each player to do their best on the network at their disposal.
When we know that Salt offers its mobile subscribers not only fixed internet at 10 gigabytes, but more than 300 TV channels and fixed telephony in Switzerland for 39.95 francs, we can only encourage households to do so. play competition. The fiber offer from the French subsidiary Xavier Niel still needs to be available… Moreover, the latter could devote a larger part of its dividends to investing in fiber in Switzerland, right?
