The President of the Republic responded to a Tiktoker who claimed to have been fined for using his phone at the toll booth.
Surprising release by Emmanuel Macron on the social network TikTok, Wednesday evening. On his account, the President speaks directly to two influencers, including “s4iintt”, a young man who said he had been fined for using his phone while driving when paying the toll with Apple Pay on the motorway. “Hello, I just saw you, and you are right. I believe that in 2025, we should be able to pay at tolls with our phone, says the President, half-serious, half-amused. I have passed the file to the Minister of the Interior and we will collectively resolve this. Thanks for the alert”concludes Emmanuel Macron.
The “s4iintt” influencer with 252 million subscribers, whom Emmanuel Macron cites in his video, claimed to have had three points removed from his license and to have received a (reduced) fine of 90 euros after paying with his phone at toll, as we wrote this Monday, January 20. A direct communication visibly filmed from the Elysée which will reassure fans of mobile payment. Because as confirmed by the lawyer specializing in road law Remy Josseaume at Figaro, “use your telephone payment device” constitutes an offense according to article R412-6-1 of the Highway Code. A strict application of the rule which was clearly not to the taste of the President of the Republic.
