820,000€ per bus
The price of a vehicle this summer was €820,000 each, with an estimated lifespan of 15 years. In total, 70 buses of this type are planned for the near future on the network. Because let’s remember that the company is also affected by the low-emission zone and must, ultimately, get rid of its thermal vehicles. Without the two-year postponement of the Lez recorded last fall, the company would have visibly encountered, at the current rate of replacement of its fleet, difficulties in complying with the new restrictions.

100% electric, these new e-Citaro buses have a range of 200 km. Alongside the electrification of its fleet, Stib is investing in charging devices. Porte de Namur, rapid loading masts are already operational. “Will be added during 2025: Pannenhuis and Moortebeek (line 46), Westland Shopping (lines 53 and 89), the Jacques Brel depot (lines 87 and 89) and, during 2026, Gare Centrale rue de Loxum (line 89) and Simonis (line 87). Work at Beekkant for bus 87 should begin at the end of 2025 with entry into service at the start of 2027“, the Stib recently announced.
