At the start of 2022, Lewis Hamilton announced that he had begun the process of changing his name, in honor of his mother. As is tradition in the United Kingdom, Hamilton took his father's surname Anthony at birth, with his mother's name, Carmen Larbalestier, not recognized.
The one who begins the year of his 40 years at Ferrari in Formula 1 after having experienced a great cycle of success at Mercedes, with whom he collected six world crowns after his success in 2008 at McLaren, had revealed in 2022 that he was considering to change its name to add that of Larbalestier, but almost three years later, it has still not been possible to know if the change was made.
“I am very proud of my family name: Hamilton”he said at the time. “Actually, none of you know that my mother's name is Larbalestier, and I'm about to add it to my name. Because I don't quite understand why, when people get married, the woman loses her name I really want her name to continue to be Hamilton.”
On the official FIA list, Hamilton is listed simply as “Lewis Hamilton”. However, the British press is reporting that the process is once again very active and that the most successful man in the history of F1 is preparing to publicly announce his change of name.
