Released in Japanese cinemas this summer, the 4th live-action film Kingdom, adaptation of the long historical and epic fresco by Yasuhisa Harawill arrive tomorrow at our house, on Netflix.
In our language, the film is called Kingdom 4: The Return of the Great General. The platform also presents the following synopsis: “In this thrilling historical fresco, the State of Qin calls on the legendary General Ohki to repel an invasion by the neighboring army of Zhao”. The feature film should be online tomorrow morning, at 9 a.m., as usual on Netflix.
Released on July 12 in Japanese cinemas, the film adapts the epic Battle of Bayô, an arc depicted in volumes 11 to 16 of the original manga and which forms a pivotal moment in history. As with the three previous opuses, Shinsuke Satô is the director while Tsutomu Kuroiwa writes the screenplay.
It was in 2019 that the live-action Kingdom film series was launched. The first opus, soberly named Kingdomadapts the Take Back the Throne arc and was released on April 19, 2019. The second film, Kingdom II: In a Far Landwas released on July 15, 2022 and adapts the arcs of Kayô’s campaign and the plan to assassinate the king. Finally, the third feature film, Kingdom: The Flame of Destinywas released on July 27, 2023 and adapts the Zhao Escape arc and the first part of the Battle of Bayô arc.

Launched in 2006 in Young Jump magazine, the manga Kingdom to date, there are 74 volumes in Japan. With us, publication is ensured by Meianwith 72 volumes currently available.
As for the anime, 5 seasons have currently been produced. They are available from us on ADN et Netflix. For fans of physical editions, Black Box has released the first two seasons on DVD and Blu-ray.
Synopsis of the manga:
In China during the Warring States period from the 5th century BC. until the unification of the Chinese kingdoms by the Qin dynasty in 221 BC. AD), we follow the young Shin on his path towards achieving his dream: becoming a Great General. Shin comes from the state of Qin, which is experiencing many upheavals both inside the kingdom and outside. Through the story of Shin, we also follow the story of Ei Sei, the man who would later be known as Qin Shi Huang, unifier of China.
