A commercial project in the heart of Bromont

This is a long-term project led by Immobilier Groupe Plouffe, which owns the site a few steps from the arena, the St-John cultural center and the complex bringing together several businesses, mentioned the general manager. organization, Daniel Duranleau.

In particular, we intend to bring together local product and service businesses on the site. The discussions are, however, too embryonic to move forward on this subject, specified the representative of Groupe Plouffe. The latter also mentioned that we would like the commercial project to be completed within two years at the latest.

The mayor of Bromont, Louis Villeneuve, confirmed that representatives of Immobilier Groupe Plouffe have already met with the City regarding this matter. “The administration presented the council with an overview of what they intend to do,” he indicated, specifying that a preliminary opinion was obtained from the urban planning advisory committee (CCU).

Elected officials will have to decide on the project later. Note that zoning has been commercial for more than 20 years in this sector.

Such an initiative could fit with the directions of Bromont’s sustainable development plan. “We want to ensure that we offer local services in the center of the city, to favor active transportation,” argued the mayor.

Louis Villeneuve also underlined that the City wants to “promote the protection of the forest cover” in the targeted sector.
