It is planned to construct seven buildings, which would have between 55,000 and 75,000 square feet of rental space on the land with an area of 175,000 square feet (more than 16,000 square meters).

To date, at least one of the buildings is said to be two stories. Mr. Duranleau mentions that this would be the first building erected to house the Ubac sports store. According to the CEO, we anticipate the opening of this business, which is already established in Bromont, next October.

As talks with other potential tenants are ongoing, Mr. Duranleau preferred not to reveal their name and sector of activity. “It is also possible that we [bâtisse] a building without having a tenant. But, in principle, we will build as we have [ententes].»
In particular, we intend to bring together local product and service businesses on the site. The discussions are, however, too embryonic to move forward on this subject, specified the representative of Groupe Plouffe. The latter also mentioned that we would like the commercial project to be completed within two years at the latest.

The mayor of Bromont, Louis Villeneuve, confirmed that representatives of Immobilier Groupe Plouffe have already met with the City regarding this matter. “The administration presented the council with an overview of what they intend to do,” he indicated, specifying that a preliminary opinion was obtained from the urban planning advisory committee (CCU).

Elected officials will have to decide on the project later. Note that zoning has been commercial for more than 20 years in this sector.
Such an initiative could fit with the directions of Bromont’s sustainable development plan. “We want to ensure that we offer local services in the center of the city, to favor active transportation,” argued the mayor.
Louis Villeneuve also underlined that the City wants to “promote the protection of the forest cover” in the targeted sector.
