The convergence of views between Rabat and Beijing is manifested by a common aspiration for “a fairer, more united world, living in peace and security”, considered Mr. El Ansari in an interview given to the Chinese public television channel. CGTN.
The Kingdom has always placed South-South cooperation at the heart of its foreign policy, particularly with African, Arab and Latin American nations, he recalled. In this sense, he underlined the importance of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as a framework for assessing relations between China and Africa and drawing a roadmap for the future.
The Kingdom actively participates in this forum as a member of the African family and is developing, with China, triangular cooperation programs for the benefit of their common partners on the continent, he said.
With its geostrategic location and its history, Morocco positions itself as “an effective bridge for entry into West and Central Africa” in particular, affirmed the diplomat, maintaining that Rabat and Beijing will continue, in 2025, to work together to the development of the African continent.
Concerning Sino-Moroccan bilateral relations, Mr. El Ansari noted that they are based on “mutual respect, solidarity, trust and credibility”, highlighting a “great convergence of views” on “fundamental questions and existential” dear to both nations.
The ambassador also recalled that China is Morocco’s third trading partner globally and the first in Asia, highlighting the growing interest of Chinese companies in the Moroccan market since the visit of His Majesty the King. Mohammed VI in China in 2016.
He specified, to this end, that several dozen Chinese companies are already established in the Kingdom and many others are expressing their interest in deploying their activities there, particularly in the automobile, renewable energy, textile and agro-industry.
In addition, Chinese companies are participating in calls for tenders in Morocco for the realization of major development projects in the industrial, infrastructure and construction fields, which testifies to the strong dynamic of cooperation linking the two countries, a- he added.
The Moroccan diplomat said he was convinced that the year 2025 will mark a new stage in the strengthening of the Morocco-China partnership, in particular with the launch, in January, of two direct airlines linking Casablanca to Beijing and Shanghai. These developments embody the common desire of the two countries to elevate their bilateral relations to the levels desired by HM King Mohammed VI and President Xi Jinping, he argued.
