Jonathan Elcock (pictured) is a technology entrepreneur from South Africa. He is the co-founder and CEO of rather.chat, a start-up specializing in the development of chatbots powered by artificial intelligence.
Founded in 2017, rather.chat designs chatbots to help businesses, regardless of their size or sector, market their products, close sales and interact with their customers via WhatsApp. These chatbots are able to carry on conversations with potential customers while collecting vital information for the brands they represent.
With its solution, the company aims to transform the way businesses communicate with their customers by strengthening connections and expanding their reach. Today, the rather.chat platform has interacted with over 15 million South Africans through its chatbots.
“Scaling sales and services is not easy. I’ve experienced the headaches of trying to meet customer expectations using call centers, text messages, and email automations. I finally came to the conclusion that there had to be a better way, and that’s why I created rather.chat”declares the founder of the start-up.
-Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Cape Town, where he obtained a Bachelor of Actuarial Science in 2009. His career began in 2010 at Zestlife, a financial services provider, where he worked in the product development department. In 2013, he joined the company’s call center operations department. From 2014 to 2017, he served as Head of Sales and Commerce at MiWayLife, a South African insurance company.
