The workforce in the Swiss watch industry, as of the end of last September, still showed a very slight increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Persistent uncertainties point to a more difficult 2025 financial year.

(Keystone-ATS) For the second year in a row, the workforce remains above 65,000 employees, with an increase of 405 positions (+0.6%), indicated the Employers’ Convention of the Swiss Watch Industry (CP). The development was supported by growth at the end of 2023 and “resilience in the face of a complex economic environment”.

The workforce linked to production confirms their central role in the watchmaking value chain, with 46,493 employees (+1.1%), specifies Wednesday the press release from the entity based in La Chaux-de-Fonds (NE). The progression illustrates the “strategic” importance of these professions “in a sector focused on quality and excellence”.

On the other hand, administrative staff experienced a slight decline of 0.8% (-145 positions), marking a stabilization of needs in this area.
