Should the name of the first electric Toyota change?

Toyota's SUV adopts a name that is not necessarily easy for customers to remember. Will the bZ4X change its name during the restyling?

The launch of Toyota's first electric model in Europe was not easy, the bZ4X having been postponed by a few months to resolve certain teething problems. A situation which is also reminiscent of other electric models from large groups which were not used to electric vehicles, such as the ID.3 at Volkswagen. And this is not the only point in common between the ID.3 and the bZ4X since both adopt a somewhat particular nomenclature which is enough to confuse customers accustomed to the brand. At Volkswagen, we are wondering about the future of the ID range, and for Toyota, it is obviously already time to ask ourselves whether “bZ” was wise.

New name for the restyling?

The wick would have been spilled by Patrick Ryan, the boss of Toyota Canada, who confirmed that the bZ4X will change its name. Will this event take place on a global scale? Nothing says it at the moment, but the second electric arrival at Toyota has a real name: Urban Cruiser. The bZ4X, a name probably too complicated to pronounce and remember and not necessarily easy to carry for a model which has seen its price plummet in recent months to the point of becoming one of the most competitive SUVs of the moment among electrics.
