Since its arrival, the Caudrot municipal team has demonstrated its desire to reduce the carbon footprint, improve the comfort of users of municipal buildings and renovate existing buildings while making savings. It therefore decided to undertake work in almost all of its buildings.
In this case, the school group, the village hall, the socio-cultural center, the stadium locker rooms and the town hall were the subject of these projects, which are of three types. They first concern the complete or partial insulation of buildings, such as the exterior insulation of the school or the injection of insulating foam in the basement of the town hall. Second comes the replacement of the frames in order to avoid heat loss in almost all municipal property. The old frames have been replaced by aluminum frames with double glazing.
Finally, the third nature of the work concerns heating. The radiators have been replaced by heat pumps where this has been possible, in order to consume less electricity, but the great progress is above all the regulation of heating in relation to the use of the premises. Technical management has been centralized and the heating is controlled remotely by computer from the town hall. The software displays temperatures and even warns if there is a defective element.
750 000 euros
“We only heat when we need it, resulting in budget savings and improved user comfort. This also allows buildings to be renovated. Before, the annual electricity and gas bill was around 60,000 euros. With the war in Ukraine, the price of gas at 1is January 2023 was multiplied by four, but we were only affected by 50% because the heating was controlled manually,” explains Mayor Jérémie Gaillard.
The project costs approximately 750,000 euros, subsidized to the tune of 375,000 euros by the State and 80,000 euros by the Department. The municipality finances the balance by borrowing, which is covered by the savings made. A white operation.
